Strength and integrity

The August flower is the gladiolus. From the Latin gladiolus, this flower means "sword," alluding to the shape of its leaves. It is also known for its symbolism of victory, as in Roman times, these were given to victorious gladiators.

It is said that this flower symbolizes strength and integrity, but also infatuation; metaphorically speaking, it is how love pierces the heart like a sword.
